U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships
I am so happy that our town is hosting another National event, and a bit bummed that the weather has mucked it up. Our arctic blast has put a damper on the U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships. It seems surprising that they would cancel SKI races due to cold weather... a little counter intuitive... but that they have done day after day. They finally got a few races out today. See ADN photo's here.
The races are being held at Kincaid Park. If you enjoy Cross Country, classic or freestyle, this is the park for you. Kincaid includes 1,400 acres with varied terrain and incredible views. Check out trail maps as you go, it's easy to get a little turned around on the 60 km of trails. The trails are wide with tracks laid out to the side. Many of the trails are "one way" (another reason to plan your route in advance). About 20 km of trails are lit for nighttime fun.
