Alaska Federation of Native Arts & Crafts Fair
This event is more than a bazaar or craft fair. It is the Alaska Federation of Native Arts and Crafts and it will be ongoing from October 23 through October 25 at the new Dena'ina Convention Center in Downtown Anchorage. (Hours on Thur. & Fri. are 8AM - 7PM, and on Sat. 8AM - 2PM).
If you are looking for native made goods in Alaska, the kind that cannot be duplicated in the touristy gift shops around town due to materials that only Native Artists are allowed to use coupled with centuries of skills handed down from parents to children... then this is an must-attend event for you.
Expect masks made of wood or caribou leather trimmed with fur. beautiful spirit masks, paintings, hand beaded items, seal fur ornaments, and carvings of whale bone, walrus ivory, and soap stone.
Go with an open heart and an open wallet as you meet with Native Artisans from around the state of Alaska.
