Red Cross Auction Featuring PUMYUA

I was a little bummed to be missing out on the first presidential debate tonight... at least until the music started. Then I forgot all about it. Tonight was the 4th Annual Taste of Marti Gras Auction benefiting the American Red Cross at the Anchor Pub and Club. This fundraiser was the brain child of local chef Mick Hug. He "cooked up" the event to help those affected by the hurricanes that year and has continued the event each year since. 12 top chef's from around the area participate, whipping up spicy dishes that make your eyes tear up. (The chef's were from Mixx Grill, Kincaid Grill, Glacier Brewhouse, Kinley's Restaurant, Pi, The Crow's Nest, ORSO, Anchor Pub and Club, The Flying Machine, Double Musky Inn, Gumbo House, and Alyeska Resort.)

The band PAMYUA (read about them at: http://tribalfunk.wordpress.com/) played up their funky Alaskan beat and got people moving on the dance floor. Local actress/comedienne Alice Welling was the MC, keeping us all hyped up and giggling. It was a great event and I will try to give you a little advance warning next year so that you can come too.
