On the Beach in Anchorage
When you come to Alaska, don't expect to be laying on the sand in the sun, not this summer. But, that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy a marvelous day at the beach. Above is a picture of a beach below the trail in Kincaid Park(in the South West part of town). It is a short hike in from the parking area (about a mile). Then a skid down a sandy-ish bluff. Do-able even with kids, so not too difficult.
If you need a drive-in beach then try Goose Lake or Jewel Lake in Anchorage. Or for the ultimate in rock beach with ocean, birds and possible wildlife, drive 5 hours South to Homer.
