No Obama at AK State Fair
I couldn't find Obama at the Alaska State Fair. I wasn't looking for him in person, mind you, just some representative or booth for Obama/Biden. I found plenty from the McCain/Palin camp. They had a booth (the news crew was out front), then there was the Women's Republican Club of Wasilla booth, and right to life booth and several other religious based booths. It was a pretty big fair, so it is possible that I just missed it. I was tailing two kids half-crazed on a mix of rides and fair food. But I WAS looking. The Alask State Fair is smack dab in the middle of Palmer, prime Palin territory. I wonder if the Obama/Biden supporters were run out of town?
I guess I should be looking for them in a more "green" environment. That Alaska State Fair is rife with fair games featuring guns, darts, and... well... ducks. I won a prize at one booth, a 2-liter bottle of soda which my husband decided we must have even though we had to lug it around all day and we don't really drink soda. I don't mean to sound like I'm whining. I love the fair. It is a day of decadence for us all with kettle corn, roller coasters, baby piglets, and even (gasp) cotton candy. But I was hoping to see some small corner of "pro-liberal, democratic, follow us-ness" something that represents me in this great big red state.
Ah well... maybe next year.
