Extreme Kayak Film

Some people don't have time for ordinary pursuits. Many of these heat seeking crazies end up in Alaska. It is a land of superlatives after all, so if you must have the tallest (McKinley, tallest Mountain in North America), the most (lakes over 20 acres in size), the biggest (parks/wilderness/untouched land) then this is the place to come. Alaskans are very close to our frontier past. Just one generation ago, living in Anchorage presented pioneer style challenges.

With one main highway through Anchorage, it could still seem like a one-horse town to someone from, say... New York. If you drive in either direction on that highway, you will find yourself hitting the wilderness in short order. Even in town, we have wild types of obstacles. In fact, I almost hit a moose this morning. We have to watch our puppy lest a hungry eagle swoops down and plucks her out of the backyard for lunch. The biggest tree in our backyard has, unfortunately, been attacked by a hungry/busy beaver. We wrapped it to keep the creature from finishing the job and potentially dropping the thing on our house. We will have to pay someone to come and take it down professionally now.

With all of this, it is no wonder that the adventurous flock here to find their own piece of the wild life. The Bear Tooth Theatrepub will be sharing one of those adventures in the form of a white water kayaking film. The film is free and will be offered for viewing on Wednesday, May 21 at 7:45 PM. The film is called "New Horizon." The Beartooth is located at 1230 W 27th Ave. in mid-town. That is within walking distance to Chilkoot Charlie's if you are interest in another kind of Alaska "wild life," the nocturnal human kind...
