Fire and Ice New Year's Eve Celebration
This will be our third year in a row to attend the downtown Anchorage Fire and Ice Celebration with our children. The evening starts (and ends) early with kids skating parties on the Town Square rink from 4:00 PM to 5:45 PM (first for the toddlers, then older youth). The Anchortown Circus will be there to entertain. At 5:50 PM there will be a 10-minute figure skating demonstration leading into "aerial angels performering over head using silks… a cirque tradition." There will be booths and a few rides. The fireworks will start at 8:00 PM. In Alaska, this is our big fireworks night because on July 4th it never gets dark enough to really see them. There will also be ice carvers making the magic crystal sculptures that we'll enjoy for the rest of the winter, although the real "ice park" will start to come together on January 4th with an opening date of January 20th… but that's a whole separate event. I hope to see you at Town Square on New Year's! Town Square is on E Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues.
