Magic Christmas Snow
After weeks of yucky warm weather, I woke up on Christmas morning to many inches of champagne powder and more coming! We have 8 to 10 inches of new snow here in Anchorage that has fallen in the last 24 hours, with more on the horizon. It is so perfect, so amazing, that I can hardly believe that I live here. Now, if it is that good in Anchorage, then Alyeska Resort must be heaven. I checked their snow report and they have 26 inches of new powder at the summit (a total of 296" for the year so far). The temperature is in the teens making the snow (in both Anchorage and Girdwood), the light fluffy "Hollywood Movie" type of snow that skiers and boarders dream about! We spent our Christmas afternoon sledding and tromping through the fresh snow. The best present ever!
