Thanksgiving Take-out for a Hotel Holiday in Anchorage
Are you visiting Anchorage over the Thanksgiving holiday? Never fear! There are great restaurants that are available all over town, including the ones in the great hotels! But, if you prefer to spend your Thanksgiving "in," you can get take out to enjoy in your room. There is a Carrs/Safeway within walking distance to downtown, on the bus route, or just a short taxi ride from your downtown hotel at 1350 Gambell Road (at the corner of 13th & Gambell).
If you are in mid-town there are several options by taxi, including Fred Meyer on Northern Lights and Gambell. There are two Carrs/Safeway stores on Northern Lights Boulevard (one is east and the other is west). Both Carrs and Fred Meyer's have full dinner deals (for 6 - 8 people). They also have deli counters where you can get a spread for one.
If you'd prefer not to center your holiday away around food, there are other options in town. "Blues Central" in mid-town is featuring Blue's guitarist James Armstrong. Chilkoot Charlie's has comedian Betty Wise taking the stage. Mad Myrna's will be a wild (alternative friendly) good time if you are into Karaoke. And, of course, we can't leave out the Great Alaska Shootout as that is our BIG event in town this week.
Whatever you decide to do, have a Happy Thanksgiving!
