Carr's/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout
It is the "final four" of Alaska. Only, it's more like "the First Four" as it is the "longest running early season college basketball tournament." Held in Anchorage every year over the week of Thanksgiving, The Great Alaska Shootout is big enough to bring in, gasp, TRAFFIC. (I'm sure this is not a big deal to those of you from big cities… but we sure notice it up here!)
Both the women's and the men's teams compete. The women's teams are: University of Alaska (Anchorage), Bradley, Cleveland State, and Santa Clara. The Men's teams are from University of Alaska (Anchorage), Butler, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Michigan, Texas Tech, Viginia Tech and Western Kentucky.
This is a sell out event up here, so if you want tickets you'd better start buying now. Single game tickets run from $11 - $30 and passes for the entire event run from $110 to $150. For a
