Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration at Jens'

Le Beaujolais nouveau est arrivé! The 3rd Thursday in November is this week. The first taste of this seasons' wine crop starts as Wednesday night draws to a close. At 12:00 AM sharp, the barrels are scheduled to arrive in at Jens doors. If you want to catch the whole crazy event of the "tapping party," make sure you are there by 11:59 PM (Wednesday night). There is no entry fee, but if you want a taste of the "vin de primeur," or another treat to eat, make sure you have your wallet.

Beaujolais nouveau is made from this past season's grapes. Barely 3 months off the vine, they have been pressed, fermented for a few short weeks, and shipped around the world. Beaujolais is intended to be consumed immediately, while it is still "young." Do not expect it to taste like a mellow aged wine. It is lip smacking, sharp, tart, and fruity. There is much fervor around its' distribution. It will be a grand party at Jens!

Jens offers special Beaujolais menu's through Saturday night.
