Take a Romantic View of the City....
With Valentine's Day just a few short weeks away, many out of towners may ask you where is a romantic place to take their sweetie?
Why don't you take them to Vulcan Park, relax and enjoy the view. Vulcan, who is the Roman god of fire and forge, has been a Birmingham may stay since 1904 and its the largest iron statue in the world.
A 10-acre park surrounds the 56-foot statue along with with an observation balcony that sits on a 124 foot pedestal. Vulcan offers the best view of Birmingham especially at night.
This year the park is holding a Valentine's night reception from 8pm-11pm with champagne, music and sweets for your sweet. The event is only $40.00 a couple and $20 for that brave single romantic soul. In order to enjoy this evening of romance, you must make reservations which you can do by going to www.vulcanpark.org.
For those of you that want to skip the romance, Vulcan does offer regular daytime hours and decent rates for children and senior citizens. If you still want to take your sweetie but can't afford the $40 charge, nighttime rates run as low as three dollars and that includes entrance to the park and observation deck.
So, whether you go for a romantic view or a history lesson, Vulcan Park is a place that everyone can enjoy.
