Spanish Travelers Now Have An Alternative Way To Fly to Thailand

thai1.jpgThai Airways has come in for criticism in Spain for cutting back on its daily flights from Madrid to Bangkok – particularly at a time when it is high season for many of Thailand’s tourist areas. The flights now operate only three times a week.
But there is some good news. Singapore Airlines is to increase the frequency of its Singapore – Milan – Barcelona service from four times weekly to daily fromlogo_singair_120_901.jpg 14 January 2008. Since there are good connections from Singapore to Thailand it now means that Spanish travelers wanting to visit Thailand have a good option by flying from Barcelona. From Madrid there are numerous flights between the capital and Barcelona. It also means that those who want to visit cities in Thailand other than Bangkok can avoid the hassle of changing planes in Suvanaphumi, the capital’s new airport which is still undergoing major reconstruction work.  There are direct flights from Singapore to Phuket, Chiang Mai and Ko Samui.
The Singapore flights from Barcelona will all be operated by the airline’s new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, featuring the airline's new luxury cabin products across all three classes. This includes the ultra-wide business class seat, configured in a 4-abreast, 1-2-1 setting. All seats feature over 1,000 entertainment options, with full audio and video on demand, and a suite of office applications.
Singapore Airlines says the frequency increase comes because of  strong demand for this service. The service initially commenced in July 2006, and customer demand for seats in both directions has built quickly. It is the first time that an air service has connected northern Italy and eastern Spain with Singapore directly, and customers across the Singapore Airlines network have enthusiastically embraced the destinations. Singapore Airlines remains the only airline flying between Singapore and the two cities.
SQ378 will depart Singapore daily at 11.35pm and reach Milan’s Malpensa Airport at 5.55am the next morning. The flight will continue on to Barcelona’s El Prat Airport, touching down at 8.35am.
On the return journey, SQ377 will leave Barcelona at 9.55pm and arrive in Singapore at 7.35am the next day.
Serving the Italian market, Singapore Airlines also flies three times weekly between Singapore and Rome. With the increase in frequency to Milan and Barcelona, Singapore Airlines now flies 77 times weekly to 12 cities in Europe.
Over the past few months finding space on the Madrid-Bangkok-Madrid has become increasingly difficult. For more information about Thailand visit www.thailandtopics.com,
