Touring Singapore

For six days, I toured Singapore by re-visiting certain places. I went to:

Sentosa
Esplanade
Orchard Road
Botanical Gardens
Robertson Walk
Zoo
Chinatown
Suntec City Mall
VivoCity
Funan the IT Mall
Little India
Sim Lim Square

I must say that I like the public transport system in Singapore as it is very effective and efficient. With my ezlink card, I can pay reasonable bus fares and train fares.

Serving savoury dumplings since 1948

Finding an eatery that serves jiaozi (Chinese dumpling), which are good (thin yet strong skin), tasty (meat drenched in a savoury sauce resultant from the correct steaming process), and sold at reasonable prices is not easy.

A friend who understands my picky taste buds introduced the jiaozi at Fong Kee for dinner one evening.

Eight jiaozi sat in a bamboo basket used for preparing dim sum (meaning 'touch the heart' in Cantonese, ...

Colours and flavours in Geylang

Some very strong cravings for beef kway teow (flat rice noodles) were satisfied with a visit to the Geylang Famous Beef Kway Teow stall.

What makes this outlet's beef kway teow so outstanding is a combination of factors. One of which is that the kway teow is first dry-fried in a wok and retains a musty, wok-fried flavour before a fermented black bean sauce is added to the wok. Another contributing ...

Indian flavours near Chinatown

Individuals looking for something different from the usual Chinese cuisine offered at Chinatown need only take a five to 10 minute walking detour to savour rich Indian flavours.

Maxwell Masaala is an unassuming, air conditioned eatery located at Airview Building, which is situated in between the Red Dot Museum and Maxwell Food Centre. There is a large selection of Northern and Southern Indian dishes, some of which are vegetarian, accompanied by ...

Pasta de Waraku again

A few weeks ago, we ate at Pasta de Waraku again. This time, I had the dish I wanted. It is made up of salmon, salmon eggs, salad, spaghetti.

As I was not in favour of the wasabi sauce that came with it, we asked for salad sauce and it arrived. Phew!

Before our main dish came, we were served with a bowl of salad. ...

CZ'ZAR - Singapore Inspired Cuisine

On Monday, we had dinner in CZ'ZAR, a restaurant that serves local food. We ate rice with mixed dishes such as lemon chicken, sautee beef, vegetables, eggplant, fish head curry. The fish head curry was very spicey. Overall, the food was great and the prices were reasonable. After dinner, we went to the cinema to watch a Singaporean movie called 881.

the Prime Society

Last Tuesday, I had dinner at The Prime Society, a restaurant that differentiates itself from other steakhouse restaurants by serving excellent cuts. I had a mixed salad, a bowl of mushroom soup and a 160g Fillet Mignon.

Here are the ten commandments of The Prime Society:

Thou shalt not consume inferior cuts.
Thou shalt honour thy meat with the finest wine.
Thou shalt not share thy meat.
Thou shalt not steal thy neighbour's ...
