Film Screening: Singapore GaGa, and Invisible City, Jul 10 to Jul 26

Two documentaries, Singapore GaGa (2005, 55 minutes) and Invisible City (2007, 60 minutes), by director Tan Pin Pin will be screened at the Sinema Old School on various dates from Jul 10 to Jul 26.

Singapore GaGa examines the complex relationship that Singaporeans have with Singapore through a collection of images and sound encompassing the National Day Parade, school cheers and public announcements. Uncover how the every-day person longs to be heard, seen and associated to the island-country as well as to the present times, which is constantly evolving.

Peoples' attempts to make a mark before they disappear from this earth is mapped by Invisible City, telling the stories of an avid amateur film director trying to preserve his decaying trove of Singapore footage as well as that of a Japanese journalist trying to find Singaporean war veterans. The hopes and doubts of these protagonists are highlighted through their various film footage and photographs.

Singapore GaGa will be screened on July 10, 12, and 17 at 7pm, and on July 26 at 5pm.
Invisible City will be screened on July 10, 12, and 17 at 9pm, on July 19 at 3pm, and on July 26 at 7pm.
