ZoukOut @ Sentosa, December 08
Singapore's biggest and most successful beach party returns for the eighth year running! The island's world-famous club, Zouk, closes for this one night as the revelry is brought on to the sand beaches of Sentosa.
Headlining the Main Arena of ZoukOut will be Carl Cox, dishing out his unique brand of UK techno and underground grooves. Sharing deck duties will be Armin van Buuren with his brand of euphoric trance, which will be familiar for fans who have heard his A State of Trance CD compilations. Look forward to a live electronic set from the duo of Booka Shade, whose Movements album of synth sounds won praise from music critics.
Tunes at the velvet Underground Arena will be provided by Does It Offend You, Yeah?, an electro/punk/indie band from Reading, UK. Producer and DJ Feadz will be accompanied by his partner, freestyling B-girl Uffie, best known for her critically acclaimed Pop the Glock. Perhaps the name Frank Wiedemann is unfamiliar, but this half of Sonar Kollective's Ame - masterminds behind international hit Rej - will be spinning a special brand of Detroit-influenced deep house with soul. House with tribal and African influences blended with deep nu-soul comes from Osunlade, boss of Yoruba Records. Rounding up the big names is Gilles Peterson, known for his radio show on BBC Radio One, as well as sets that combine eclectic funk and soul.
The Mambo Jambo/Hip Hop Arena will host DJ Craze, Miami's three-time DMC World Championship winner, as well as MC Armanni, the freestyle champion.
Over at the live stage, the line-up features bands from Singapore and the region - ranging from I Am David Sparkle, FAB IQ OF David Gunn, Great Spy Experiment and friends, Electrico, Caracal to Deserters from KL - providing an electric atmosphere for fans of live music.
Advance tickets (available until December 7) cost S$48. Event day tickets cost S$58.
