Security is excellent. The door men are grand and properly mannered. Pakistanis are gracious, warm and friendly people. When they take you into their city and their home they treat you like visiting royalty.

The rooms are comfortable. There are three sizes from comfy to grand. They are well equipped guest rooms and suites that provide comfort and superb modern facilities to make your stay truly memorable. They offer an array of modern amenities that include individually controlled air conditioning, color satellite TV with CNN, HBO, National Geographic, TNT, internet access, piped-in music, an in-room safe, 2-line telephone with high speed Internet Broadband access, international direct dial telephone, hairdryer, laundry and valet service, executive bar, refrigerator and express check-out.
They have an excellent health club with all the latest athletic machines to assist you in keeping yourself in top shape. And of course, the large pool is always a must in the land of a thousand kings.

All travelers like to feel and look their finest when traveling. The Marriott has one of the best laundry and dry cleaning shops in the entire city. It is where I have my finest clothes laundered and dry cleaned.

In the evening I like to visit the lounge restaurant where a variety of western and eastern live music is played by talent ensembles.

There's a small shopping mall attached where you can pick up batteries and other items you may need during your stay in Karachi.

All in all, I recommend the Marriott as a fine place to stay.

Safe and secure. A place where local people hold their weddings by the large pool and visit the lobby restaurant for coffee and pastries late at night.

The reputation of Sheraton Hotels is secure in Karachi. The President, Governor and city officials frequent it throughout the year.

Celebrities? Wow, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Aamir Khan, myself and others have visited Sheraton from time to time as they visit this major international port city.

The international community kind of hangs out there at night after a long work day. I especially like to go late at night when most things have closed down and have a coffee and French Pastry.
If you're on vacation, it is in the heart of the city. Near the financial district.

The arts community where NAPA --- Pakistan's first National Academy of Performing Arts is near by.

And if you want to take a ride to the largest MacDonald's in the world on the beach, you can catch a cab and soon you'll be on the famous strip called Seaview.

Karachi is a city that is rapidly becoming modern. Yet it has the local music, food and wonderful culture surrounding it.

The Karachi Sheraton gives you the chance to have the experience of both worlds.

Well, at the wharf in Boat Basin area, Karachi, you will find a moonlight sail in a lanteen rigged sloop out in the bay of Karachi is just what you ordered.

I took it one night at about 10PM. Friends of mine rented a boat at 500 rupees a person. Twelve of us climbed in and had the time of our life remembering old times and playing word games as the two boats men, cast off, hoisted sails and we quietly slipped out into the bay on a beautiful star lite night. It was so peaceful, I remember the smiles of serenity on all of our faces as we sat back and enjoyed a most pleasant ride. And the stars like diamonds in the sky.
After sailing past other boats and jetties, relaxing, and telling jokes while quietly slipping through the fishing waters of Karachi bay, we started singing old rock and roll songs from the Beatles to Sting and then we played charades. It was a terrific outing.

All the while the one boast man dropped anchor and fished while the other lite a fire grill on the fishing sloop.

Soon we were eating fresh shrimp, mussels, fish and crab perfectly roasted and hot for us to eat on the spot.

I still remember the laughter and the smiles and the easy comfortable rocking of the boat like I was in a baby cradle.

It is one of my favorite times here in Karachi, Pakistan.

And on certain holidays you can watch fireworks that color the night at the ocean's edge.

Not far down the beach there is camel riding and on the other end there are polo matches on the sand.

Did you know that the great horse game "polo" was invented in the high mountains of Pakistan? Well, here in Karachi, they play it on the beaches and the horses are some of the most outstanding creatures on the planet. Their riders are mostly made up of tall muscular Patans. They are the famous tribal men who have since Alexander The Great ruled the northern frontier.

Having a Big Mac or a Mac Arabian sandwich and watching polo twenty feet in front of you is something you won't forget. And the pictures you take home to show your friends will be the envy of your community.
