If you happen to visit Hong Kong for the first time, you may mistaken it for a city in Japan.

The young people's dressups, the huge ads designs on the walls, the big commercial screens, and the Japanese made vehicles on the roads show certain features of Japanese culture.

But people here are different from the Japanese in one significant way. They are all Chinese who speak cantonese, and they write their ideas, thoughts, poems, history, and books with traditional Chinese.

Actually, this very small city, has a mixture of many kinds of culture. The young ones are fond of songs, pop music, fashionable outfits, toys, foot gears and flash cards from Japan, But at schools, most of the subjects they study are lectured in English.

This city, with an area around 1098 sq Kilometers was originally a part of China. But since it was ceded to UK in 1842, it became a colony under the influence of Britain for as long as 155 years. So you may not find it curious if you are told that the local government system and education system was built based on British models.

In fact, many generations of people here have learned to use a Chinese way to speak English. They use a combination of both English and Cantonese to communicate with one another.

Hong Kong is a place where you can find an assortment of interesting features. It has spectacular sceneries. Its Cantonese cuisines are the unusual ones you can never find in other places. And if you are interested in finding out the history of how the Monarchy system of China collapsed, Hong Kong is the right place for you to trace the courses of many chronicle happenings.

This city is also a shopping paradise where every thing is tagged at the best price because the government has setup a low tax system to boost the local economy.
