Jewish Life in Berlin - Yiddish Speaking Opportunities in Berlin
Yiddish is experiencing a rebirth of sorts in Berlin.
Many of the Jewish immigrants from the former Soviet Union, having settled in Berlin, have brought with them their love of Yiddish. Berlin's Yiddish speaking club (the Jiddish Gespächskreis) offers fans of the language a friendly and fun setting in which to practice. It is a refreshing way to experience Jewish life in Berlin.
On the first and third Mondays of each month during the academic semesters(April 16th to July 21st, 2007 and from October 15th to the 16th of February, 2008.) meetings are held from 6:15pm to 7:45pm in the Technical University's architecture building.
The address is: Room A 052 (Architekturgebäude TU/Architechtural building TU-technical university) located on the Strasse des 17. Juni 150/152. This is conveniently located at Ernst-Reuter-Platz right next to U-bahnhof Ernst Reuter Platz.
Students of Yiddish, fans and native speakers alike are welcome to participate. For further information contact: Dr. Arnold Groh (tel: 030-822-7854)/a.groh@berlin.de, or contact M. Weinryb (tel: 030-823-2380).
