São Paulo's Literary Debate - Sempre Um Papo

São Paulo, being one of the world's biggest cities and one of the financial arteries of Brazil, has been able to develop into a place where culture and the arts also thrive. With a variety of cultural and artistic events going on nearly everyday somewhere around the city, it is not a far fetched idea to think that anyone remotely interested in anything won't find something suitable to their tastes, and more importantly - to their pockets. There are concerts, debates, exhibits, and performances of all sorts, with ticket prices ranging from very steep (such as the expensive tickets to Cirque du Soleil's Alegria) to the very cheap (countless of free programs around town).
One such cultural and financially acessible event is "Sempre um Papo". It is a literary release project which promotes debates with great international and national authors. It goes on in different cities in the country, and here in São Paulo it happens every 15 days at an auditorium at the Sesc Avenida Paulista. Such great names as Zeca Camargo, Lia Luft, Paulo Autran and Moacyr Scliar have already been a part of the São Paulo based debates.
This Wednesday, the 11th of July, it will be Adriana Falcão's turn to be on the debate stand. She is a screenwriter for both cinema and TV Globo, the country's biggest public access television channel. For this week's topic, a modern adaptation of one of Shakespeare's classics, discussing the mix of traditional English literature and the popular Brazilian culture. The book being released is "Sonho de Uma Noite de Verão" (Editora Objetiva), based on Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
