Corpo Humano - The Human Body (OCA – Parque do Ibirapuera)
It’s the last few weeks that you can go and see the fascinating Corpo Humano (Human Body) exhibition, which is currently in Sao Paulo. I saw this when it was in London, and it was extremely interesting. I expected to be far more disturbed and repulsed by real dead bodies cut open and displayed, but the preservation techniques pioneered by controversial Professor Gunther von Hagens, transforms the bodies into what is basically plastic, they don’t smell, they are dry and are not rotting in anyway. The bodies are arranged in all manner of bizarre positions, on horses with their brains exposed, playing chess, football etc. The show has been accused of being sensationalist, but this makes it more appealing to the viewer. It is a cross between biology lesson, an insight into your insides, and an art exhibition.
I recommend seeing it once. Evenfor those who are squeamish.
Where: Sao Paulo, OCA – Parque do Ibirapuera.
