Jez and Brooke are typical hotel guests. Although they expect to get decent value for the price they pay, they don’t necessarily expect the very best quality in everything. They do, however, expect a reasonable effort to be made in minding the details, especially in the bathroom arena. And they’re not afraid to speak their minds if things aren’t right, either.
…at the Copthorne Tara Kensington in London I sent a message to the hotel manager and got replacement TP and a note, but really this is the most stunningly appalling TP for any respectable hotel to offer and they should just fricking upgrade it, the cheap bastards.

Sometimes we sacrifice certain comforts for a good price, especially in a city like London where hotel room rates are known to be on the super high side. Of course, combine budget price with a sweet Piccadilly Circus location and you might be even more forgiving?

Damn it!!! Just when I was getting ready to wash my clothes in the toilet I see that it’s not allowed at this hotel. Taken in my hotel room in Hué, Vietnam
Thanks for the image (and the laugh) “einarorn”

I had food poisoning courtesy of the Cathay Dim Sum chinese restaurant in the Trafford Centre in Manchester, and so I spent the last night of our stay in a luxury hotel suite sleeping in a nest of towels in the bathroom.
This pic by “evilstevie”, who stayed up most of the night keeping an eye on me and helping me clean myself up every time I was sick.

Cathay Dim Sum [at your own risk]
The upstairs shared toilet in the Cliff Hotel.
Like most of the water closets I encountered in the Middle East, leave your used toilet paper in the nearby trash bin (plumbing can’t handle western style wiping).
This particular WC, though it had a flush chain, didn’t actually flush anything at all. After finishing my business I’d fill up a bottle at the sink and pour that in the bowl.
