The bathroom was unbelievable! This was my first trip to Vegas where I barely left my room! The tub was about 6 feet long by 3 feet wide by 3 feet deep. It was like having a hot tub in your bathroom. And as if that wasn’t enough, there was a flat screen TV built into the wall for your viewing pleasure while you soak in your tub:) Last, there was a glass stand up shower big enough for 3 or more people. It wasn’t a steam shower, but it was close enough to one. This bathroom even had a huge vanity section with two sinks and a stool. It was a women’s dream bathroom!
In the heart of Tokyo’s hyper-paced Shinjuku district lies the Cerulean Towers Tokyu Hotel. Check out the bathroom at this modern luxury hotel, Tokyo Style:
For over thirty years, it has been a tradition with our extended family that Santa appears on Christmas Eve to dole out presents for the kids. It was my turn this year after a decade’s hiatus to don the suit and sweat for an hour beside the tree.
Of course, I had to take time out to do a couple of shots in the hotel bathroom…
This hotel in Anaheim uses some interesting branded wall sconces to light up their bathrooms. We assume that this white gloved hand is inspiring a sense of five-star service delivery at this hotel property. At the same time, this four-fingered hand looks somehow strangely familiar…
We’ll figure it out soon enough; it’s a small world after all.
We love bathroom signage here at HotelThrone.com, and we’re delighted to feature hotels who push the envelope when choosing “artsy” gender signage to direct their guests to the appropriate facility.
Thanks to Kir and Jim for sending in this terrific example of gender confused-ish bathroom signage at the Aria Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic. We would have had no problem finding the ladies’ washroom, but we’re not too sure who exactly is welcome on the right!
I saw the entry on “hotel bathroom signage people,” and immediately thought of my experience a couple of years ago. After imbibing in a few glasses of fine Czech wine at the gorgeous Aria Hotel’s rooftop restaurant in Prague, I headed down to the washroom to find this sign. I don’t remember now whether there was more than one door, or if this sign was just on one door, but I stood there for awhile, stumped as to which door I should enter/whether I should open the door/whether I should keep searching for a washroom. I blame it on the wine! I did enter, and then sent my husband down with the camera to see the sign for himself.
Boutique hotels around the world are embracing transparent partitions between the bedroom and the bath. Perhaps this design innovation is meant to inspire a feeling of intimacy, or maybe to offset an uber-small sized guestroom with the illusion of space.
Either way, “Catinlap”, featured below gives us a live demonstration at the Cliff Lodge at Snowbird Mountain in Utah. Thanks to Catinlap for helping us decide for ourselves whether this new bathroom styling is as cool as we thought.
The bathrooms in the Cliff Lodge at Snowbird have a European–strike that–Yourapeein’ feature: a window that looks directly into the room. I guess you can shower and watch the cars pull up to the resort. Here Catinlap demonstrates by fake pissing what the horror would be like to be in the room with someone who doesn’t shut the curtains.
Narly is a New Zealander who currently calls Hong Kong home. He is a fan of our little hotel blog network here at HotelsByCity, and when he was recently vacationing in Thailand with his fiance - he decided to have some fun with his camera.
Check out this bathroom image “paparazzi-style” catching him on the throne at the upscale Sukhothai Hotel in Bangkok.
This men’s room mockery at the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino is a variation on a hilarious theme that we have featured before. It never gets tired for us here at HotelThrone.com!
We get excited here at HotelThrone.com when we receive emails from hotel guests with comments about their hotel stays. We like it even more when we get hotel guestroom images featuring beds and bathrooms.
Thanks to Lori for sending in these throne treatments from the “hoity-toity” Omni Mandalay in Irving, Texas. Nice digs, but what’s with the picture hanging in the shower?
There is much discussion in the hotel industry about new hotel bathroom designs starting to phase out the traditional bathtub. Issues around water conservation and decreasing guestroom size seem to be dictating the removal of the classic soaker tub.
Not so at the 37 room Hotel Du Vin in Brighton, England. This boutique hotel has not only embraced the bathroom as a luxury amenity - but it has raised the bar even further by placing it right in the middle of the living area in select guestrooms.
That’s the way we like it here at HotelThrone.com!
Sometimes we sacrifice certain comforts for a good price, especially in a city like London where hotel room rates are known to be on the super high side. Of course, combine budget price with a sweet Piccadilly Circus location and you might be even more forgiving?
“…didn’t expect the Ritz, so I was expecting a low budget hotel and the location can’t be beat. However nice the lobby, restaurant and bar were, the upstairs was a different story. The doors to everyone’s rooms and bathrooms BANG, BANG,BANG all the time. The showers could do with a good scrubbing and mildew treatment. They should close down for a while and totally do a makeover. I’d love to stay here again, but…[more]“
We like “W” Hotels here at HotelThrone.com, but we love “W” Hotel guests. Guests of Starwood’s boutique brand have consistently given us some of our very best content!
This is why we love “W” guests:
While staying in the ridiculously nifty “W” hotel in Dallas, TX we couldn’t help ourselves when it came to the magnifying mirror in the bathroom.
Spanish based AC Hotels has developed boutique properties all over Spain, with a few properties in Italy and Portugal.
Intertesting (ie/ stark) placement of the bathroom amenities on the vanity at the Hotel Ciutat de Palma in Mallorca, Spain.
“…A very stylish hotel, with a marble and glass bathroom, stunning views over the Paseo Maritim harbour and -with a little luck- over the cathedral of Palma! Free minibar and lounge drinks and a variety of very good restaurants in the neighbourhood! very friendly service and-very important in the centre of Palma- a garage! We loved it! [more]“
Fighting tartar at the Bosman’s Hotel, Vancouver, Canada .
We stayed here for 1 night in September 2004. We booked over the phone and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The hotel is pretty basic, functional and clean which is what we were after.
The room was clean and comfortable but it was at the front of the building which was a bit noisy when the window was open, but hey, it’s in the middle of the city so what can you expect! The front desk staff were great and helped us with directions, maps and places to go. It was very central and perfect for exploring the city.
We really liked the no frills friendly feel of the place, but I can imagine it may not be for everyone. We would happily stay there again. [more]
