Eau de Toilet in Nagaoka, Japan
Saturday, December 16th, 2006
I check into my hotel, fill my tiny room with all my stuff, and the first thing I notice is the fantastic Engrish everywhere. What this sign is trying to say is “If using the toilet’s built-in Bidet function, please switch it off before you stand up.” I’ll allow you to imagine the scene of a toilet spraying water in a graceful arc up out of the bowl and all over the room.

Check out this bathroom image “paparazzi-style” catching him on the throne at the upscale Sukhothai Hotel in Bangkok.

Seoul Park Hyatt Hotel Bathroom
Monday, October 23rd, 2006
This room is the Park Hyatt hotel room shower. That bathtub sits in the shower. It has a see-all view of the city. The best bathroom in the world, perhaps?
Thanks to Seth for this image - although we consider ourselves “experts” in hotel bathrooms here at HotelThrone.com, we are hesitant to give up the World’s Best moniker without just a little more research. We do, however, have no doubt that is the best shower in the world!
The actual shower/tub room is large and beautiful and, as from the bedroom, is set off from the bathroom vanity area by a glass wall. I had never seen a true rain shower before…the shower fixture was IN the ceiling and was probably a foot across…wow, nice. The shower fixtures were a bit odd to figure out at first though, 3 controls..not hot/cold/shower like we’re used to..it was water on hot cold/hand-held shower/rain shower…had to figure that out… and shot water around the room in the process…[more]

Bum Buttons for Business Travel
Thursday, September 21st, 2006
First thing the virgin Japan business traveller will probably discover is that the hotel’s toilet seat is warmer than usual. Yes indeed, heating in-built!
Then he will find a remote control like this for all types of other before unheard pleasures. I was particularly interested in the massage button
but never found the time to ask anyone how it actually works.
Oberoi Hotel Bathroom, Bali
Friday, September 15th, 2006
“…Stayed here for 7 nights and didn’t want to leave. Fabulous hotel with an authentic balinese flavour, no bland american style hotel here. Great service with personal attention, staff are genuinely welcoming. You wont find better in Bali. Plenty of information in some other reviews, but just felt strongly enough to add to the positive ratings…[more]“

Bathroom signage at the Hotel Okura in Tokyo, Japan.
“…One annoying thing about the Okura is that if you want to pay for a bar bill in cash (as opposed to signing for it) they routinely have not added the taxes, so a waiter will come running after you to get you to pay more (after you thought you’d paid and left a nice tip…). I finally gave up and just signed the bills…and got rid of my excess yen at checkout.
The decor and ambiance are very 1960-1970 modern. One keeps expecting Sean Connery to come across the lobby on his way to meet Tiger Tanaka…” [TripAdvisor]

Japanese Toilet Training…& Family Meeting
Tuesday, August 29th, 2006
The family trying to figure out the toilet in our hotel room. They were distracted by all the fancy settings near the seat. The flusher was just on the opposite of where it is on all of our toilets.
Trust us…there is much to learn young grasshopper. Mist or jet options, high blow dry or medium…hot seat or mild settings [example].
We North Americans can learn a thing or two about luxury.

Banakshol Hotel Bathroom - China

They have flush toilets also, but I preferred this particular squat toilet because it is two stories up from the bottom, so there is a cool breeze.
Swank Digs - Astor House Hotel, Shanghai
Monday, August 28th, 2006
I thought the W and Hyatt hotel bathrooms were nice - this one takes the cake! Ranae and I somehow managed an executive suite at the Astor House Hotel. There is a huge glass window between the bathroom and the room with a motorized blind for privacy no less!
We love the glassed partition. Strange and plush.
