Bathroom Spa Retreat at the Wynn Las Vegas

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

The bathroom was unbelievable! This was my first trip to Vegas where I barely left my room! The tub was about 6 feet long by 3 feet wide by 3 feet deep. It was like having a hot tub in your bathroom. And as if that wasn’t enough, there was a flat screen TV built into the wall for your viewing pleasure while you soak in your tub:) Last, there was a glass stand up shower big enough for 3 or more people. It wasn’t a steam shower, but it was close enough to one. This bathroom even had a huge vanity section with two sinks and a stool. It was a women’s dream bathroom!

Thanks to Christy for sending in this image!

Even Santa has to go once in a while…

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

For over thirty years, it has been a tradition with our extended family that Santa appears on Christmas Eve to dole out presents for the kids. It was my turn this year after a decade’s hiatus to don the suit and sweat for an hour beside the tree.

Of course, I had to take time out to do a couple of shots in the hotel bathroom…

White-Gloved Hotel Service in Anaheim, California

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

This hotel in Anaheim uses some interesting branded wall sconces to light up their bathrooms. We assume that this white gloved hand is inspiring a sense of five-star service delivery at this hotel property. At the same time, this four-fingered hand looks somehow strangely familiar…

We’ll figure it out soon enough; it’s a small world after all.

Men’s Nightmare at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel & Casino

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

This men’s room mockery at the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino is a variation on a hilarious theme that we have featured before. It never gets tired for us here at HotelThrone.com!

Housekeeping Professionals at L.A.’s Hotel Alexandria

Saturday, December 2nd, 2006

What a great image. We found this rendition of hotel room attendants servicing a guestroom at the Alexandria Hotel in Los Angeles.

Much respect to hotel housekeepers around the world! You’ve got a tough, sometimes thankless job and you tirelessly take care of the guest every single day.

Thank you!

Gold Hotel Fixtures in Kohler, Wisconsin

Sunday, November 26th, 2006

Hotels don’t often use high-end bathroom fixtures with brand names like Kohler. For one thing, residential-style fixtures aren’t necessarily made to take the amount of use that commercial hotel fixtures receive on a daily basis.

It isn’t that guests use the faucets differently from at home, but rather that housekeeping also uses them daily when servicing the guestroom.

The other factor is, of course, price. Brands like Kohler aren’t known to be the cheapest in the catalogue.

When you stay in a hotel in Kohler, Wisconsin however - you can be sure that you’ll be using top shelf bathroom fixtures. After all, head offices for the Kohler company really are in Kohler, Wisconsin.

Check out this golden hotel faucet set from the luxury American Club Hotel, along with a very nice porcelain floral fixture at Kohler’s Design Center.

We spent Thanksgiving at this resort in Kohler, Wisconsin…yes Kohler. Each room has really NICE fixtures.

The Kohler Design Center is the place to go to see the most spectacular bathrooms you’ve ever seen. It’s actually a tourist attraction in Kohler.

Happy Couple at the Lowes Hotel in Philadelphia

Sunday, November 26th, 2006

No matter how contemporary upscale hotel designs become, we can always count on a few standards to be in place - like traditional bathroom signage.

We love images of hotel bathroom signage “people” here at HotelThrone.com. Two people, him and her, perfectly complementary against a deep red velour backdrop. Never touching, but always together. It almost brings a tear to our eyes. But not quite.

Hotel Throne at the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas

Friday, November 10th, 2006

We get excited here at HotelThrone.com when we receive emails from hotel guests with comments about their hotel stays. We like it even more when we get hotel guestroom images featuring beds and bathrooms.

Thanks to Lori for sending in these throne treatments from the “hoity-toity” Omni Mandalay in Irving, Texas. Nice digs, but what’s with the picture hanging in the shower?

Hotel Nikko San Francisco

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

Check out this image of a guestroom vanity at San Francisco’s Hotel Nikko. Guestroom technology just keeps getting better and better.

Love it…but are we really so time-pressed that we need to watch the news while we fight tartar?

From the moment we made our reservation to when we checked out, it was perfect. Staff was the most polite and most helpful I have ever encountered. They upgraded our room and surprised us with a bottle of champagne. Service was impeccable all around. Great spa services too and very close to all great shopping.

Great location, great service, great price and a beautiful hotel. Was debating paying more to stay at a 5 star hotel and while we were in SF we checked out Campden Place, unimpressive. Hotel Nikko was an excellent choice and we would definitely stay here again. Wait till you see the bathroom! [more]

Boys & Girls at the Standard Hotel

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

Accommodating all shapes and sizes…just like L.A.! Love the Standard Hotel.

TripAdvisor:

My sister and I stayed at the Standard for 4 nights in December 05. The staff at this hotel were boring and tiresome in the fact that they had the attitude that they were doing you a favour allowing you to stay on the premises. Gave the impression they were ‘processing’ you and don’t go out of their way in any way, shape or form. I doubt I saw a smile once from any of them. Found the general attitide requiring a readjustment. [more]

Beds? That’s Extra!

Friday, September 15th, 2006

I had food poisoning courtesy of the Cathay Dim Sum chinese restaurant in the Trafford Centre in Manchester, and so I spent the last night of our stay in a luxury hotel suite sleeping in a nest of towels in the bathroom.

This pic by “evilstevie”, who stayed up most of the night keeping an eye on me and helping me clean myself up every time I was sick.

Intercontinental Hotel toilet

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

Gentlemen…if you ever wondered why ladies travel in pairs or threes when they are going to the washrooms - now you know!

1 camera operator, 1 actually using the facility and 1 to point out where housekeeping forgot to clean.

Cozy in a Madison Radisson

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

When I first walked into the public restroom at the Radisson Hotel in Madison, I was met with a scene I didn’t quite grasp. After a few seconds, I thought, “man they do things weird in Wisconsin.” Then I thought, “folks on Flickr are gonna have to see this,” so I went and got my camera.

I asked since there weren’t any signs like “pardon our dust”. They said they were remodelling…there were other, private stalls elsewhere in the restroom. And as for invading the sanctity of the men’s room - it was pretty early in the morning - no one else was around. ;-)

Thanks Jim!

Admit One for the Hard Rock Hotel

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Now I finally know where the term “Shit-Tickets” comes from! This roll and others like it can be found at the Hard Rock Hotel in Seminole, Florida.

I stayed in a room with a soaking tub and separate walk in shower that had a showerhead that felt like light rain falling on me. It was great.

LA’s Most Decadent Hotel Bathroom

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Los Angeles’ popular night life guide LA.com rolled out their listing of the most decadent hotel bathrooms in the city.

Topping the list was the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, seen above - which happens to be the hotel where the movie “Pretty Woman” was filmed.

The Beverly Wilshire was chosen for its finely crafted wooden doors, full-length mirrors, marble floors and walls. The door puts most lounges to shame, but it’s the little touches like cotton towels and free hand lotion that makes it one of the best bathrooms in LA. [LA.com]

LA’s Standard Hotel Clarifies for the Throne-Impaired
