Poolicious Rooftop at the AC Forum Barcelona Hotel

Many hotels in Barcelona, Spain feature their swimming pools on top of the hotel building. Not only does this save space for the hotel property, but it also ensures that the view from the top is going to be spectacular.

Enjoy this grand vista from the hotel rooftop pool at Barcelona’s ultra-stylish AC Forum Barcelona.

The hotel had a very modern look and feel. The views were specatacular, especially from the pool deck. Rooms were very nice and the hotel provided complimentary breakfast. Located across the street from a modern mall and 2 blocks from the metro. Taxis are located right outside and can get you to the casino or the Olympic Port in less than 10 minutes…[TripAdvisor]

Forget Dolphins - Swim with Sharks at the Golden Nugget

Las Vegas hotels are experts at creating high drama for entertainment value throughout their facilities. At the Golden Nugget Las Vegas guests can literally swim with the sharks. Well, at least they can slide through a plastic pipe that cuts through a shark tank…which is close enough!

The new swimming pool at the Nugget surrounds a shark tank. That tube in the middle of the shark tank is a water slide. How cool is that?

Delano Hotel Pool Party People in Miami

Some hotel guests prefer to lounge in a serene, secluded resort setting far away from other guests. And then there are guests who savor the congestion of an urban oasis where one can see and be seen.

Check out the deck-side pool action at Miami Beach’s Delano Hotel, part of the Morgans Hotel Group.

The pool itself is not big but more for posers than anything practical. However, there are beds surrounding the pools which you can laze on and the waiters constantly check if you’re ok for drinks. If you don’t fancy the hotel pool, you can walk onto the private beach area which has free double sun beds for you to catch some sun…[TripAdvisor]

The Majestic Hotel’s Rooftop Oasis Above Barcelona

If it seems that we like rooftop hotel swimming pools here at HotelSplash.com, that would be because we LOVE rooftop swimming pools!

While we sympathize with hotel guests who dream of sunny vacations on sand-covered beaches (especially in winter), we like to point out that urban landscapes from high-up can also be just as breathtaking. Especially in Barcelona, Spain.

What Barcelona’s Majestic Hotel swimming pool lacks in “width”, is more than compensated for with this absolutely incredible view.

This hotel is right in the middel of the city, the rooms were ok, but what really makes this hotel is the roof garden, pool and bar. During the day and night you can see right into the heart of the city. Unfortanely the hotel lacks the glamour of the Arts. Be sure to ask for Steve the head bar man on the roof bar makes great cocktails…[TripAdvisor]

Tarzan Swam at the Hotel InterContinental, Chicago

The swimming pool at Hotel Inter-Continental, Chicago. The story is that Johnny Weismuller swam here.

Johnny Weissmuller (June 2, 1904 – January 20, 1984) was one of the world’s best swimmers in the 1920s, winning five Olympic gold medals and one bronze medal. He won fifty-two US National Championships and set sixty-seven world records. After his swimming career he became the sixth actor to portray Tarzan in films, a role he played in twelve motion pictures. Other actors also played Tarzan, but Weissmuller was the best-known. His distinctive, ululating Tarzan yell is still often used in films…[Wikipedia]

Meet Keanu at the Phoenix Hotel Pool, San Francisco

“…How many hotels can claim that Keanu Reeves, Linda Ronstadt, Sinead O’Connor, John F. Kennedy Jr., Faye Dunaway, and David Bowie have graced their corridors? How many hotels have become the crash pad and launching pad for world-renowned bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana and Pearl Jam; and up-and-comers like Norah Jones, Pete Yorn and Hoobastank?…[hotel site]”

At the Phoenix Hotel in San Francisco. There was a Maxim photo shoot while we were there, so there were 12 skinny girls in bikinis and sweatshirts running around.

Thanks for the image, Julie

Pool at the Edge of Singapore

The island nation of Singapore isn’t exactly known for wide open spaces. Finding the Hotel Fullerton’s outdoor urban oasis looks like time well spent. The neo-classical Fullerton Hotel was built back in 1928.

Our original room was quite small as was a corner room with a reduced floor plan but after asking we were upgraded to a Heritage room overlooking the pool which was wonderful.

Singapore was a great city to spend a few days and lots to do, hotel is well positioned to tour the city and sits in a very grand position overlooking the river and out to sea…[more]

Reflections Hotel Pool, Bangkok

The Reflections Hotel is a popular Art Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. The hotel is small, at only 30 rooms and affordable by all accounts. One recent guest paid only $200 USD for three nights accommodation.

We stayed in this hotel for the last two nights of our family holiday in Thailand and could not have chosen better! Their website gives an accurate depiction of what to expect, which is totally unlike any hotel we have ever experienced before.

Very kitch, very quirky, everywhere you look there is something vibrant and interesting to see. Particularly loved the plastic toys in the swimming pool, reminicent of childhood bath times! Food was also excellent and the location is very close to the skytrain. In our view, definitely worth a visit when staying in Bangkok…[more]

Royal Plaza Hotel Pool, Hong Kong

With space in extremely short supply in Hong Kong, hotel designers need to be creative as to where swimming pools can be integrated into the product mix.

This outdoor beauty at the Royal Plaza Hotel in Kowloon showcases a dramatic vista of Hong Kong’s urban environment.

Since not many hotels in Hong Kong have a pool, this one came as a bonus. It also has an open air jacuzzi.

“…This is a classy and professional hotel albeit slightly off the beaten track for tourists. It is actually very conveniently located on the Mong Kok KCR train station and connected to a shopping center with its own food court and children’s playground as well as a cinema. This is where you get to see how the locals live.

The hotel itself was clean and spacious with marble everywhere - as you woiuld expect from a 5 star hotel. Even the room service was excellent. Don’t be put off by the location - this is a great hotel to stay in….[more]“
