This is the older part of the famous Montbrio del Camp thermal baths. The pool is now a pond for goldfish- the spa is in separate buildings, the hotel is a 5 star resort. Many of the older buildings were inspired by Gaudi and other Modernist architects and artists.
The city of Hurghada, Egypt stretches for about 40 km along the seashore, and it doesn’t reach far into the surrounding desert. The resort is a destination for package holiday tourists from Europe, notably Russians, Czechs and Germans. Until a few years ago it remained a small fishing village.
Today Hurghada counts 40,000 inhabitants and is divided into three parts: Downtown (El Dahar) is the old part; Sekalla is the modern part, and El Korra Road is the most modern part. Sakkala is the relatively modest hotel quarter. Dahar is where the town’s largest bazaar, the post office and the long-distance bus station are situated. Many restaurants, bars and shops, small pubs and internet cafes are available all over Hurghada [Wikipedia]
Ok, you probably had to be there to enjoy this, but sit back and imagine yourself in on the construction of the $250 million hotel, Hyatt Regency at Poipu Beach, Kauai about 1990. It is not done yet, and you get to go see where the beautiful lagoons and swimming area will be when they are done. Suddenly your ex, when he wasn’t your ex yet, and your daughter (Anna Leigh’s mommy) pretend they are fish swimming through the water that isn’t there yet. It wasn’t very long after that this was completed, and Hurricane Iki came along and did considerable damage to it, but I understand it did not get totaled. You are not likely to ever witness a shot like this again in that spot.
Relaxing tones, neutral space…talk about minimalist-chic!
The hotel itself is modern, clean and equipped with everything you would await. Nothing very special, but up to the standards, modern and clean. They have a rather small pool (which can be viewed from the reception area through looking-holes - might be a downturn for some people) and a nice breakfast buffet (not a vast selection, but again up to the standards). In short: Exactly what I expected.
It is a nice spot I can recommend (I suggest to take a room with a view to the sea), maybe a little (too) expensive in the high season, I would have rated it 3*, but the staff really made the difference to put it above average (4*)…[TripAdvisor]
Noella playing about by the pool at Morning Star hotel.
The Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort in St. Thomas, Carribean is a special place, especially when your little-ones get to enjoy themselves.
Just watch out for giant lizzards, as one guest recommends:
We stayed at Morning Star from Oct. 15-25 for our honeymoon. I was a bit concerned given some of the previous reviews, but let me assure you that this is a wonderful place to stay! The room at Morning Star was very nice, and we had a nice ocean view and a short walk to the beach. We spent most of our days at the pools, and found both to be great, with nice lounge chairs and umbrellas to provide shade. Both pools also have iguanas, which we found fun, but some guests were quite alarmed by them (they’re 2 to 3 feet long and some have learned to approach guests to get fruit from their drinks!), so if you are scared of big lizards, be aware that they are around the pools, on the sidewalks and outdoor stairs, etc…[TripAdvisor]
The French Riviera is part of France’s southeastern coast off the Mediterranean Sea, reaching from Toulon to Menton at the border with Italy. Enjoy the incredible French Rivieran sunset at Cap Ferrat, along with the same image captured in day light.
This is a truly great and special grand hotel. I have just stayed for three days (May 2006)with my wife at the hotel. The location, on the tip of Cap Ferrat is magical, with the hotel looking down over fine gardens to the open sea. The food is superb and the service amongst the very best available.
Not being one for writing reviews, I only do so because the review of 1st July 2005 shown on these pages is, in my personal opinion, seriously off the wall. Frankly if you can get a room, you’re lucky to be able to stay and experience this hotel! [TripAdvisor]
According to Wikipedia, Ibiza in the summer is a phenomenal mix of the the world’s craziest, most sophisticated and best organized parties, the best DJs, the most cutting edge dance music, phenomenal beaches, chilled out sunset cafes, amazing restaurants and of course the most interesting mix of people from around the world.
It is the epicentre of summer partying for the international ‘baby’ jet set as well as a favourite destination for many ordinary young people.
Stayed here for a week. The hotel has a great pool overlooking the bay. The rooms are spacious and clean with great views. I stayed in a studio which had a kitchenette which was very handy. The hotel is very gay oriented which suited me fine. The water in Ibiza is amazing–even nicer than Bermuda where I grew up. Ibiza old town is very charming with lots of action. I will be going back to Ibiza very soon as it surpassed all my expectations and will stay in Figuertas again as it is lovely but will opt for a hotel with aircon a tv and room service…[more]

When travellers visit distant lands for business or pleasure, sometimes they will find themselves experiencing major events first-hand.

The city of Dubrovnik is nicknamed “Pearl of the Adriatic” for being one of the most prominent tourist resorts and seaport in the center of the Dubrovnik–Neretva county in Southern Croatia.
The Grand Villa Argentina was the best rated 5 star hotel that we stayed in during our trip to the Dalmation Coast, and it truly lived up to its reputation. I can see why Liz Taylor and Richard Burton stayed there! [more]
