The pool itself is not big but more for posers than anything practical. However, there are beds surrounding the pools which you can laze on and the waiters constantly check if you’re ok for drinks. At the Phoenix Hotel in San Francisco. There was a Maxim photo shoot while we were there, so there were 12 skinny girls in bikinis and sweatshirts running around.

We had a ball - the food was excellent, the hotel was clean, the staff were so helpful and the barman in the smoking bar was so funny [this bar stays open till 3 in the morning and I don't smoke] and nothing was a bother to him.
