Sleeping in Airports
When push comes to shove you might have to sleep in the airport you are in. Whether your flight is delayed or cancelled because of weather, or if your flight was overbooked, at some point in your life you will probably have to sleep in an airport. Here are a few tips to make your stay a little more enjoyable…if you can say enjoyable and sleeping in an airport in the same sentence.
- Be prepared for the worst - There is always a chance that your flight will be cancelled so have pack a little kit to make your wait easier. (Ear plugs, snacks, bottled water, disinfectant wipes, etc.)
- Keep yourself entertained - Waiting is painful enough never mind not having anything to occupy your mind. Be sure to at least bring a book or a few magazines with you. Try bringing some music too, that way you can wear headphones and block out all of the background sounds (just be sure not to miss any announcements that may be for you).
- Double Check - You may be stuck in the airport, but they still have rules. A lot of airports will let you sleep on the benches, but not on the floor. Make sure you are allowed to sleep were you are.
The bottom line is get as comfortable as you possibly can, the more uncomfortable you are and the less you have to do will make sleeping in the airport that much more of a pain!
