But come the christmas season, there are special sunday openings
Sunday shopping: December 7 and 21, 2008: 11:00 am – 6 pm, December 24 and 31, 2008: open until 4 pm, January 2, 2009: open until 8 pm. Don't wait till the last minute to get those christmas gifts!

Every Tuesday and Friday, from 6-11 am, there is a farmers market and flower market at Burkliplatz. It is good to support the local farmers and some of them come from quite a long distance to sell their cheeses and hams.

The sales are on still in the major department stores. manor, jelmoli and my favourite; Globus. with some prices down by 75%. The majority of sales are for household, linens etc but if you look there are some good discounts on shoes and handbags.

Orell Fussli is a bookshop here in Zurich. It has a separate shop which only has English books.
Which is especially good for us expats here (plus there are dvds and magazines to be found, incl the NY times)

Manor is a department store found on Bahnhofstrasse. It has a self service restaurant on the 5/fl and also a cafe on the 4/fl. I discovered today that is has a lovely outdoor sitting area. (it is situated in the middle and so it is like a courtyard)
