Cheese Store Part I
As we were walking through Dam Square on the way to our favorite cheese store, we had the idea to run into Nieuwe Kerk to see what the inside is like. Nieuwe Kerk is a beautiful church sitting right on the square that is open for the public to look inside (it only costs money if you want to walk around in it). It is pretty impressive with its stone floors and massive stained glass windows- check out the size of the people compared to the windows. The church is no longer used for services, but does hold royal weddings, coronations, organ recitals, and exhibits. There is also a restaurant with an outdoor patio overlooking Dam Square. We probably would have stopped, but as I said earlier...we were on our way to the cheese store.
