Devyne Wine

Wine Wall

On Friday night, Scott and I decided to take a walk and get a cup of coffee before coming back home and spending the night indoors. A local coffee shop that we wanted to try out in the Jordaan was closed so we decided to find another. We walked along the Prinsengracht staring in windows for a place that was new and unique. We found it.

The place is called Vyne and is located at Prinsengracht 411. It is a wine bar and only a wine bar serving nothing but wine. The list is impressive. They average 60-90 wines by the glass per evening and over 200 in the bottle. The walls of the bar are the impressive and massive wine racks. The place seemed like it would be a little pretentious, but when we sat down the server came up to us and kindly started explaining the bar to us. They had four different flights (a tasting of three wines) for us to choose from. We ended up both ordering the Sauvignon Blanc flight and the tasting began.

So, the night began with a trip to get a cup of coffee and ended up with a wine tasting. Completely unexpected, but that's what I love about the city.
