Bars & Clubs in Dublin

You don't have to be trying too hard to hate this place...

Don't go to FitzSimons, even ironically, even in jest. Yes, it's perfectly central in the foul wheezing heart of Temple Bar, yes it has one of the few open-air drinking areas in that part of the city, yes it's bleedin' enormous, but your dignity and the dignity of your friends is worth more than that.

I'm from Dublin and naturally resentful of the filthy tourist traps that infest the cultural ...

Peter's Pub - soup, sandwiches and dignity...

Some consider Peter's Pub the second best pub on Sth William St, and while that may not sound like much of a boast, the curious drinking tourist should bear in mind that the competition is Grogan's (see the posting on Grogan's). You can only read this if you promise to behave yourself

This is my first ever blog posting and I'm feeling kind of ambivalent about writing about my favourite pub, so you have to promise that if you are reading this and if you visit the place, you don't let me down and disgrace me in front of the regulars. OK?

Copper Face Jacks

Known more commonly as "Coppers," this long time running club (over ten years) is nothing short of an institution. Sitauted in the Jackson court Hotel, This dingy, but lovable club is open late seven nights a week with d.j.s playing mainly chart music with some classic 80's and cock rock thrown in for good measure. Monday night seems to be the best night to go here, with student nurses, guards and teachers ...

Doyle's

Set against the backdrop of the beautifully historic Trinity College, Doyles is a late bar that has become the place to go for the trendy college set that frequent this traditionally decorated 3 storey establishment. It caters to a mainly alternative crowd that fill it to capacity on the weekend. The D.J.s are well versed in what is happening in music at the moment as well as playing a mix of ...

The Czech Inn- A great night out.

Formerly Isolde's towers, this centrally located pub-club is often overlooked amidst the crass atmosphere of the over-hyped Temple Bar. It offers a late bar and D.J seven nights a week playing a mixture of chart favourites with some classic 70's and 80's,  drummers play upstairs on the weekend.  The crowd is unpretentious and laid back, with a large Polish presence and the usual smattering of Irish regulars. The door policy is not overly strict, ...
