Before the Holidays End

It is officially the first working day of the New Year and many of you are heading back to work.  Before the Christmas decorations start coming down and all signs of Christmas and packed away for another 11 months I wanted to share with you some store fronts in Paris.

Carale Shop

Rue Moufftard is just a fun street to walk in Paris.  There is something going on here.  The street has a fantastic market on Sunday mornings along with chocolate, pastry, butcher, bakery and clothing shops.

Along the way I discovered Carale shop again.  A few years ago when I was in Paris I had purchased some earrings here.  At first I did not recognize the shop, however once I walked in ...

Serge Lutens Perfume

The first time my nose received a wiff of Serge Lutens perfume was in a bistro in the Marais.  My husband was ski racing in the Italian Alps and I was spending a few days in Paris.  Makes sense.  I had stopped for lunch in the Marais and was seated at the bar next to a fashionably dressed older French woman.  Fashionably dressed French woman is probably redundant.  Is there ...

Off the beaten path: Walking the Canal Saint Martin in Paris

While the Seine may tempt visitors with it's majestic panoramas and sunset boat rides, the Canal Saint Martin in the tenth arrondissement offers an equally interesting view of a lesser known side of Paris. This picturesque waterway stretches three miles from the north-eastern corner of the city to rue Faubourg du Temple, near République. For a pleasant afternoon stroll, head down rue de la Grange aux Belles at the exit ...

Harajuku.

Harajuku.

Ever since Gwen Stefani introduced fans to the Harajuku girls, pop culture enthusiasts have been embracing the goth-slash-lolita look that originated in the Tokyo neighborhood of that name. If you're bored with French fashion or in the mood to play dress-up, head straight to Harajuku in the fifth arrondissement. The outrageous clothes come straight from Japan, and with labels such as Sex ...

Galeries Lafayette.

Galeries Lafayette.

This luxe department store goes above and beyond to give customers the royal treatment from the moment they walk in. Translators, guest lounges - Japanese tourists get their own - a deluxe grocery and even private weekly fashion shows make clear that this is no ordinary mall. But by far my most favorite luxury is the domed ceiling, a resplendant ...

Paris Vintage: Iglaine

When I moved into my old apartment in the 1st arrondisement of Paris (Louvre, Chatelet, Palais Royal) late December 2006, I became neighbours to a divine vintage boutique on rue de la Grande Truanderie. The owner is this cute little lady named Dominique Cesselin and the boutique is called Iglaine.

With an extensive list of garments and accessories there I made that place my ultimate destination for ...

Custo Barcelona.

Custo.

It may be made in Barcelona, but the clothing at this fashion forward destination is enough to turn even the most jaded French heads. While the asymmetrical tops, handsewn hoodies and glittery minis would catch anyone's eye, only the bold would dare to wear these masterpieces outside. If you've got the courage, head over to one of Custo's three storefronts in Paris: ...
