Mirama

dsc02764.JPG

Although French Cuisine is known as one of the best in the world and also one of my favourites, being an Asian who live here for quite a while, I long for good old Asian food. Coming from a cosmopolitan city like Bangkok, by Asian food, it doesn't necessarily mean just Thai food but the whole thing from my continent; from Chinese to Japanese, Korean, ...

Kong

dsc02848.JPG

Everyone who has seen the last two episodes of Sex and the City, filmed in Paris must have noticed a scene where Carrie lunched with Alexandr Patrovsky's ex-wife.
I went there on the first day I arrived in Paris last year with my French friends. It's situated on the top floor of Kenzo boutique overlooking the pont neuf. Kong is intensely decorated by star ...

Cour du Commerce Saint-Andre

Cour du Commerce Saint-Andre.

This hidden pedestrian thoroughfare is a fun detour from the paved narrow streets of Saint-Germain, where cars and tourists vie for space. The uneven cobblestones of this walkway betray its history. Indeed, this is one of the few covered (at least partially) pedestrian shopping streets left in Paris.

Le Christine

Le Christine.

This unassuming gem in an old Parisian house on tiny rue Christine in Saint-Germain offers delightful French fare with service and decor to match. While the seabass for two is renowned, the other fish (try the scorpion) and meats (the lamb is succulent) are just as delicious and come with hearty sides (risotto, asparagus and artichoke, potatos). The creamy lentil ...

Mariage Freres

dsc01741_resize.JPG

For everyone who has seen Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, I hope that you still remember the blooming jasmin tea she was serving her brother the Emperor of Austria. She says that it is from China- it really is- only it is now available for us non-royals at one of my favourite tea salons Mariage Freres.
Usually when I go there to be arch ...

La Grande Mosquee

 dsc00743.JPG

Paris is a cosmopolitan city. Despite the uniformed style buildings of the Haussmannien Era, you may also find other great architectural designs from all over the world, from a sino-japanese pagoda to a muslim mosque.

La Grande Mosquee is one of the greatest examples. Built in the mid 20's to thank the Muslims people who helped fight with the Germans in the World War I.  Most ...

Le Petit Zinc

Le Petit Zinc.

This brasserie around the corner from Le Relais d'Entrecote is a fine option for non-carnivores who prefer fish (or carnivores who can't stand a long wait for a table). Le Petit Zinc specializes in seafood, but offers a fine selection of meats and desserts for all folks who come to enjoy the elegant Art Nouveau decor and century-old ironwork. ...

Le Relais de l'Entrecote

Die-hard carnivores will delight at this Parisian steakhouse with locations in in the ritzy sixth and eighth arrondissements, where one's only choices are "rare, medium or well done" (unless one opts for one of the excellent desserts as well). The set menu includes succulent steaks served with the celebrated "secret sauce," along with crunchy "frites" and a salad. Neither restaurant takes reservations, so go ...

Cafe Marly

dsc01123.JPG

Situated in the Richelieu Wing of the Louvre Museum overlooking the IM Pei's glass Pyramid, Cafe Marly is the place to see and be seen. It is one of those wonders run by the Costes Brothers, owner of the uber chic restaurant George on the top of the Centre George Pompidou, the Hotel Costes, and many other darlings of the Paris Haute Societe and international ...

Bercy Village

Bercy Village

This former wine warehouse just north of the Seine in the east of Paris has been revamped into a charming thoroughfare boasting authentic trolley tracks and cobblestones. Its restaurants, shops and cinema are flanked by beautiful parks and a burgeoning yuppie community. On weekends, marching bands and brass instrumentalists decked in chefs' attire take to the streets much to the ...
