Pierre Herme
It now all makes sense to me why Pierre Herme creates such wonderful desserts, he is from Colmar a little village in the Alsace region. Anyone who has visited this region realizes that the food is incredible. They have a wide assortment of fruit to choose from which inspires many desserts.
I first learnt of Pierre Herme through my cooking books, Chocolate Desserts by Pierre Herme is one of my favorites. The photographs are so elegant that it makes you want to bake everything in the book. On my last visit to Paris I was determined to visit his boutique. With the address in hand off I trotted to 72, rue Bonaparte. When I arrived I was surprised by a line of Parisians out the door. People had actually lined up to enter the store. I had never seen anything like this.
After all this was a patissierie. There are many patissieries in Paris. But only one Pierre Herme. The counter was lined with all sorts of delectable chocolate desserts. What to have, for me the choice was easy. I am addicted to macaroons.
Deciding to be adventurous I chose a Truffle Blanch and Noisette. I was getting a white truffle and nut macaroon. I cannot say it was too my taste, I do like my desserts to taste like desserts not truffles, but it was interesting. Just to be safe I had ordered the chocolate macaroon also. Ah yes, just what I expected.
