Les Deux Magots

img_0047.JPG

Almost every Paris tourist guide will tell you about the brasserie Les Deux Magots.  The first time I walked past the bar I was about twenty-one years old.  That was my first trip to Paris.  I know that I sat outside at a cafe on St. Germain des Pres however I cannot tell you if it was this cafe.

I have been to Paris many times since and walked past Les Deux Magots numerous times.  I always stay in the St. Germain des Pres area when I visit.  I havea no reason for why I have never sat down for a cup of tea or a lunch.

The bar started off as a drapery in the 1800's selling silk and other luxury items.  During the days of Hemingway it was one of his haunts when in Paris.  It is the type of place that I would enjoy visiting and sitting down at.  Every time I go to Paris I have visions of sitting outside at a cafe enjoying a meal, writing my memoirs.

The problem is every time I visit Paris I discover a new area, or boutique, museum or street.  There is so much to do.  On my last visit I visited numerous chocolate shops and tea salons.

To the great writers who received their inspiration from the city and every tourist who has enjoyed a great cup of coffee or glass of wine at an outdoor cafe I know that Les Deux Magots would fit the bill.

It is a reason to go back and visit Paris.  Who knows maybe there will be a www.hotelsbycity.net reunion there.
