Angelina's Tea Salon

I have just returned from another wonderful stay in Paris.  The city always dazzles me.  There are always new places to discover and enjoy.  On this last trip the weather was in a constant flux between beautiful sunny winter days where one is fashionably dressed in their coat, scarf and gloves to down right bitter cold day leaving you wishing that you had on your warmest parka no matter how unfashionable that may be in Paris.

The day I sat down at Angelina's was one of those days.  Just unbelievably cold.  I had started off the day at an outdoor market, not really a good activity for keeping one warm.  Soon after that I decided it was time to go sit down and warm up.

So off to Angelina's I headed.  The tea salon is at 24 Rue Rivoli close to the Louvre.  Before I entered the salon I new what I would be having.  The famous hot chocolate that I had read about in so many travel magazines and guides.

All the books told me that the hot chocolate was quite thick but I was not prepared for it.  It was like drinking a melted chocolate bar.  I usually do not indulge in whipped creme but I needed something to dilute the thickness of the hot chocolate.

GIven the price of pastries around 8 euros apiece and the weak US dollar I only had a cup of hot chocolate.  At 11 a.m. there is a limit to the amount of sweetness I can partake in.

I left the salon warm and cozy.  It was an expensive yet fun Paris decadence.
