Berthillon Ice Cream Store

Almost every tour guide book I have read will tell you to visit Berthillon for ice cream.  The books inevitably describe the line ups that can be seen down the street forming at the entrance of the store.  Berthillon can be found on Ile St. Louis, the small island behind Ile Cite.  After many visits to Paris I decided to pay a visit to Berthillon.

I was staying on Ile St. ...

Free Transportation New Years Eve

The Parisian transit system is offering free transportation on the bus, metro and RER from 8 p.m. December 31 until noon on New Years.  As long as the transit workers do not decide to stage a strike which sometimes seems to be the French national pastime people should be able to move around the city for free to celebrate the New Year.

Notre Dame on Christmas Eve

I have never been fortunate enough to spend Christmas eve in Paris.  One day I will and I know already how I would spend the evening.  I would go to service at Notre Dame Cathedral.  Outside the cathedral stands the Christmas tree all lit up.

Inside there is a nativity scene, honoring the birth of Christ.  I can hear the organ playing music that would echo down the aisles of Notre ...

Almost French by Sarah Turnbull

Sarah I not sure if you are still living in Paris.  However I just finsihed your book and envy your endeavor in becoming Almost French.  To live in Paris is my all time dream.

For those of you thinking of visiting the City of Lights "Almost French" is a wonderful story of an Aussie who meets a Frenchman and starts living in Paris.  While enjoying cups of cappucino and croissants, Sarah sheds ...

Les Deux Magots

img_0047.JPG

Almost every Paris tourist guide will tell you about the brasserie Les Deux Magots.  The first time I walked past the bar I was about twenty-one years old.  That was my first trip to Paris.  I know that I sat outside at a cafe on St. Germain des Pres however I cannot tell you if it was ...

Hotel des Deux Iles Paris

I had mentioned earlier that I was in Paris earlier in the month.  The original plan was to rent an apartment however due to circumstances beyond my control I showed up in Paris and the apartment was unavailable.

I was in a near panic.  I had already paid for the apartment and did not have a hotel reservation.  I had intentionally chosen to stay on Ile Saint Louis.  It is a ...

Angelina's Tea Salon

I have just returned from another wonderful stay in Paris.  The city always dazzles me.  There are always new places to discover and enjoy.  On this last trip the weather was in a constant flux between beautiful sunny winter days where one is fashionably dressed in their coat, scarf and gloves to down right bitter cold day leaving you wishing that you had on your warmest parka no matter ...

Carale Shop

Rue Moufftard is just a fun street to walk in Paris.  There is something going on here.  The street has a fantastic market on Sunday mornings along with chocolate, pastry, butcher, bakery and clothing shops.

Along the way I discovered Carale shop again.  A few years ago when I was in Paris I had purchased some earrings here.  At first I did not recognize the shop, however once I walked in ...

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

As I recently mentioned I had a trip planned to Paris and would be renting an apartment.  All was going well on my way over to Paris.  The flight was emply, I had a row to myself and the metro strike was over.

I should have known something was about to go wrong.  I reach the apartment.  The building looked good, but I was staying on Ile St. Louis so this ...
