Paris has many great restaurants: Do you wish you knew what you were ordering?

Paris has many wonderful restaurants, bistros, delis and other gastronomical delights were one can indulge themselves.  Have you ever found yourself in a foreign country and do not recognize what is on the menu?  This has happenend to me many times and I enjoy cooking and speak French.

Last summer in the south of France, tagitelle was on the menu.  I knew it was pasta but did not know anything else about it.  Here is a great guide that translates the name of foods for you, THE MARLING MENU MASTER, by Altarindra books In La Jolla California.  It is a great small guide that will fit into your pocket.                    100_0132.JPG

Realistically all you need to know is vin (wine), fromage (cheese) and baguette.  Foie gras, canard (duck), gateaux (cake). There is so much to French cuisine that you will have fun discovering the new words.  Who knows, maybe you will discover a word in the guide and go looking for a restaurant that serves it.

Marling Menu Master can be ordered from www.Amazon.com.  In addition to France, there are guides for Italy and Germany.

Bon appetite.
