Observe (and be observed) at the Place de la Contrescarpe
The Place de la Contrescarpe is one of my favorite nooks in Paris for many reasons. First of all, it is quaint and charming and lined with nice terraces attached to bars that offer convenient Happy Hours. Secondly, it is in a fun student populated part of the city, lending itself to a youthful ambiance and a nice mixture of people having their after-work or after study session drinks. But, above all, what I love about the Place de la Contrescarpe is Tagh. Tagh is a self-professed "explorateur" and his curiosity and spirit of adventure is unending. When Tagh's safari scooter arrives at the place, all spectators are in for a treat, for their inclusion in Tagh's research is unavoidable- as they quench their thirst they will delight in Tagh's insatiable curiosity regarding all that is around him. With the aid of his binoculars, Tagh relentlessly observes and takes notes on his surroundings, namely- you and everyone around you. Sometimes Tagh will approach you to get a closer look, but be not afraid- he is a responsible explorer and knows to leave the environment unchanged and exactly as he found it- but somehow the presence of Tagh changes everything, and that's why I love the Place de la Contrescarpe.
