Behind the Louvre
Much as I adore the Louvre and the arts in it, I sometimes get tired of the number of people there, queueing, taking photos, walking, etc, etc. Especially in a busy city like Paris, there are times where you want peace but really can't find a place without a throng of other people.
I happened to realise not so long ago how peaceful the courtyard of the Louvre is compared to the front of the Pyramid. Albeit a little too grey without any plants, this area has become one of my favourite spots to sit and forget about all the problems in life letting my trains of thoughts wander around.
It is where I really focus my appreciation on the Louvre Architecture itself rather than the masterpieces it holds. Hundreds of years of building from reign to reign, one wing was built after another. Stones were delicately carved through different eras yet still blend in with each other at the end.
The Louvre is really a real masterpiece in its own right.
