Musee Carnavalet
Even before I arrived in Paris, I'd always dreamt of owning an Hotel Particulier, a town mansion, in this city, thinking of all the parties I could hold, of high ceilings and gilded walls, etc, etc. Perhaps one day I could make it a reality. But until then, in order to keep the dreams alive, I frequent as much as possible the museums that dot the city of Light.
One of my favourites is the Musee Carnavalet. Set in the heart of the Marais, this museum is made of two adjoining 16th and 17th century mansions. It houses what is called The History of Paris.
There you would be enthralled by an enless arrays of sumptuously decorated rooms that represent each epochs of Paris. My coup-de-coeur is the Reception room whose marvellously embellished walls were taken from the Hotel d'Uzes one by one.
The museum's garden is a Gem in its own right. When you are there, you wouldn't want to come out.
