BHV Homme: Men's Heaven

dsc03128.JPG

So long that men had been taught to be overly virile and rough and to see fashion as something deemed too sissifying for words. With much slower pace in development in terms of style and much fewer shops specialised in menswear, I am utterly delighted to at last see a whole department store devoted to Men's fashion.

BHV or Bazaar de l'Hotel de Ville is an ...

Hotel de Ville: Jardin Demain

 dsc03089.JPG

In Paris, you never know where the day will lead you. Getting out of the metro to meet my friends last night I was greeted by a new project of Paris City Hall, The Jardin Demain - Tomorrow Garden. Over 2,000 square metres are transformed into an urban garden featuring the works of Parisian gardeners. For those who want more information, feel free ...

Behind the Louvre

dsc02855.JPG

Much as I adore the Louvre and the arts in it, I sometimes get tired of the number of people there, queueing, taking photos, walking, etc, etc. Especially in a busy city like Paris, there are times where you want peace but really can't find a place without a throng of other people.

I happened to realise not so long ago how peaceful the courtyard ...

Mirama

Although French Cuisine is known as one of the best in the world and also one of my favourites, being an Asian who live here for quite a while, I long for good old Asian food. Coming from a cosmopolitan city like Bangkok, by Asian food, it doesn't necessarily mean just Thai food but the whole thing from my continent; from Chinese to Japanese, Korean, ...

Kong

dsc02848.JPG

Everyone who has seen the last two episodes of Sex and the City, filmed in Paris must have noticed a scene where Carrie lunched with Alexandr Patrovsky's ex-wife.
I went there on the first day I arrived in Paris last year with my French friends. It's situated on the top floor of Kenzo boutique overlooking the pont neuf. Kong is intensely decorated by star ...

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac

On Thursday after the final presentation, our dean madame Walker brought us to the Musee Galliera for Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's exhibition.

Though not a real fan of this French Marquis/designer, I adore his creativity and imagination and his absorbtion of arts. Many of his works are heavily influenced by Andy Warhol - also not my favourite artist to be honest.

Nevertheless, it was a marvellous experience of strong ...

Hotel de Ville

paris_hotel_de_ville_bw.jpg

Since 1357, the city of Paris' adminitration has been located on the same place where the Hotel de Ville, city hall, stands today. The square in front of the Hotel de Ville building was a huge gathering place for public executions. Although there are still many ceremonies executed there for the public these days, only the traffic is deadly.

Sometimes, in the summer, if you ...

Louvre: The Unfinished Task

dsc02806.JPG

It is not humanly possible to finish the Louvre in one day, so it has become my collective task to preside over the museum a wing a visit. It started from the Italian and French paintings, to Egytian Arts to Arabic Arts until last Saturday my task was complete with the Napoleon III's apartment on the Richelieu wing right on the top the ...
