La Durée- Makers of the only macaroons worth eating!

Even if you don't have the budget to enjoy lunch in the charming setting of La Durée, a quick stop to pick up some of their sumptuous macaroons is a must for any visitor to Paris. Permenant flavors such as Rose petal, Caramel, Blackcurrent violet, and vanilla combined with assorted seasonal flavors are sure to tempt your taste buds. Biting into a La Durée macaroons is like getting your mouth around a piece of heaven- or a really nicely flavored cloud- trust me, you'll understand what I mean once you do it! The macaroons come in both big and small sizes and I suggest ordering a nice array of the little ones so you can sample as many flavors as possible. La Durée has three locations in paris (21 rue Bonaparte in the sixth arrondisement, 75 avenue des Champs Elysées, and 16 rue Royal near place de la Madeleine) Their products are also available at Printemps de la Mode on Blvd. Hausmann. I would suggest the rue Royal boutique, where you can peek into the quaint dining room, where the pastel decor reflects the hues of their edibles...even the boutique looks good enough to eat!

The rue Royal shop is open from Monday to Saturday 8:30 a.m to 7 p.m and Sunday from 10 a.m to 7 p.m.

Mini Macaroons: 1,70€ each
Big Macaroons: 4,40€ each

I love the French macaroons. Just reading about them makes me wish I was eating one right now. I would fly to Paris just to sit in the salon and enjoy a pot of tea and a macaroon. Do you know of any bakeries in Southern California where you can get french macaroons?

I don't know where to get good macaroons in the States, I think anything would seem like a poor imitation after eating the La Durée variety... am I starting to sound like a snobby Parisian or what! Good luck in your quest and let me know if you suceed!

I don't know about California but in New York there is Fauchon which is a branch from Paris. Good Luck
