Club Duplex
This was a very special find. My roommates and I happened to meet a few guys who said that they had special connections to get us into Duplex for free. We obliged, and found ourselves whisked away into the club within minutes (only later we would find out that Duplex hosts free nights until 2 AM on Thursdays for students and on Saturdays for everyone). It is easy to get into if female, and if not, try to find female friends to go with you and you will be ushered in within minutes. The club itself is very chic. It consists of two floors, the first containing techo style music and a VIP lounge. The second floor hosts hip hop on most nights and can be a haunt for Americans in Paris. Drinks are relatively expensive (at 9 euro a pop) but between 10-12, the club's happy hour, drinks are buy two for one. This is a great deal, as their coctails are amazing! If on a tight budget, definitely swing by Duplex on a Thursday (Saturdays are harder to get into and usually generate an older crowd). Another plus is that Duplex sells cigarettes all night at their bar. It is almost impossible to find them anywhere else in Paris after midnight.
HOW TO GET THERE:
Duplex is right next to the Arc du Triumph at the end of the Champs Elysees. The best way to get there is to take the Metro Line 6 to Charles de Gaulle/Etoile. Take the Etoile exit. After you exit the metro, you will see the Arc and to the right of it, I can assure you, will be a line for Duplex. To get in fast, act very American. They love tourists. Also, as stated above, it is very easy for women to get in, and men should attempt to bring some along with them.
