Best Bread in Paris

You cannot go to Paris without seeing the Eiffel Tower, going to the Louvre and eating bread, cheese and drinking wine.

Let me tell you about one of the best bakeries in Paris...

I used to live on boulevard Rochechouart, near Pigalle and le Moulin Rouge and rue des Martyrs, which is famous for its transformists clubs, you know those clubs where you can see men dressed up as glamourous celebrities : Chez Michou, Madame Arthur.

But I will tell you about that side of the Rue des Martyrs another time.  Today I would like to tell you about the food side of Rue des Martyrs, and about one particular bakery called after the owner Arnaud del Montel.

First of all, the bakery itself attracts you : its location -below Montmartre, the authenticity of the buildings and the little shops around, the smell of fresh bread being baked, the pastries that are exhibited in the window and the pink color chosen to decorate the store.

So you enter the bakery and you can see the bakers at work thanks to a glass window that separates the shop from the bakehouse.

There you can find the basic things : baguette, pain de campagne, croissant, pain au chocolat, etc. Basic indeed but quite extraordinary by the quality of the products. Everything is just so tasty!

I highly recommend you get a "Renaissance".  It is one of the best "baguettes" I have ever had in my whole French life.

The first time I bought one, I ate it all while walking up the Rue des Martyrs to Montmartre. It was definitely a very nice walk and I hardly noticed the steepness of the way to Montmartre thanks to my delicious Renaissance!
