Breathtaking Views of Paris
For a panoramic view of Paris, most visitors follow their guidebooks to the Sacre Coeur or another monument, but there are more unusual spots to catch a view of Parisian rooftops.
1) The Buttes Chaumont park in northeast Paris was built in the 19th century on the site of a former quarry, hence its dramatic nearly vertical drops. At the highest point of the park there's a little stone "temple" where a spectacular view of Sacre Coeur and Montmartre unfolds. Come on a weekday afternoon with your sweetheart, and you may have what may be the most romantic spot in Paris to yourselves. On a weekend, however, you may need to stand in line!

2) Another interesting "vertical" park is the Parc de Belleville, nearby in the 20th arrondissement. At the top of the Park on rue Piat, there's a viewing platform that offers and unbeatable view of the Eiffel tower and other Parisian monuments. This is the best spot in Paris to watch the sun set.
