Happy Valentine's Day!
Here I am, celebrating Valentine's Day with my fiance in the most romantic city in the world, how lucky can one get? Simply walking the grand boulevards and quaint streets, makes even the most jaded among us a bit weak in the knees and lovestruck when you're with your significant other. The beauty and ambience of Paris seems to insist you go hand in hand and a kiss or two is mandatory. There is an endless variety of places to go that will make a Valentine's Day to remember. Here's just a few suggestions.
The Pont des Arts is a wooden footbridge that Parisians call the Lover's Bridge. At dusk, it's especially nice and you will find couples enjoying a cozy picnic, sipping French wine and being happy to be in love.
The Rodin Museum is also a favorite outing for two. Obviously, The Thinker is very popular, but my we personally love to see the sculpture, The Kiss. An exceptional work of a man and woman locked in a passionate embrace. It's nearly lifesize and the lines and detail are superb, it makes you want to reach out and plant a big kiss. The museum is located at 79 Rue de Verenne, 75007, 01 44 18 61 10. More about this great place next time.
It's corny and cliche, I know, but a nightime cruise along the Seine is hard to top for sheer romance. Right now the weather is cold, all the more reason to cuddle, so choose a clear night and watch the spectacular lights glide by.
Don't forget the old standard, dinner in a small, intimate cafe is always a winner. A corner table for two is perfect while you wine and dine your way through a French meal.
Afterwards a walk aong the Seine or the Famous Champs Elysees. As long as you're with the one you love, anywhere can be special, but when the place is Paris...ooh la la!
