Eiffel Tower
- The formation of Eiffel tower was completed on 31st March, 1889 and was opened for public on 6th May, 1889.
- Located in Paris, France, Eiffel Tower is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
- Totally made of iron, this tower is situated at the banks of river siene.
- Eiffel Tower is 1063 ft in height. This is equivalent to 81 stories building.
- Gustave Eiffel was the architect and engineer, who built it.
- It was Paris tallest tower till 1930, but presently it is at 5th position.
- More than 200 million people have visited Eiffel tower.
- This tower was harmed by lightening in 1902 resulting in the re-formation of upper 300 ft portion.
- Its total weight is equal to 7300 ton.
- It takes 1660 steps to reach the upper top story of the tower.
- It fluctuates from 6 to 7 meters when ever the winds are strong.
- This tower is re-painted every seventh year and about 50-60 tons of three graded paint is used. Presently, this tower is coated by brownish-grey paint.
- Three different colors are used to paint it so that it should look uniform coated through out.
- When this tower was created, it was having license for 20 years only.
- Victor Lusting, a French con artist, sold the tower for scrap in 1925 two times.
- During creation, this tower was criticized by nature-lovers for the reason that it will affect the freedom of birds.
- In 1909, under the basement of south pillar, a permanent underground radio station was built which is still there.
